California triple-digit heat is sweeping the state as forecasters warn of record highs across inland and valley areas on May 30.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS), cities like Redding may hit 109°F, while Bakersfield could reach 106°F. Heat advisories have already been issued for interior San Luis Obispo County, with possible extensions to Ventura and Los Angeles Counties.
The Central Valley is expected to experience the most intense heat, with triple-digit temperatures likely. Areas like Ojai, Palmdale, and Lancaster could also break daily records.
The NWS warns of a 30%–40% chance of highs breaking daytime records on May 30, especially in desert and valley regions.
While the inland regions sizzle, coastal areas and beaches will remain cooler, hovering in the 70s. However, a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms is forecast for the weekend.
From Saturday afternoon through Sunday night, expect potential showers and thunderstorms, particularly across the San Gabriel Mountains. The most likely time for rain will be during the afternoons.

- LA & Ventura Counties: Advisories may be issued if temperatures rise by more than 10 degrees.
- Heat warnings are 30% likely in the southern valleys.
